1. Age and Occupation?
46 years old. Real Estate Appraiser and part-time Girls Lacrosse Coach
2. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Since June of 2012
3. Why do you CrossFit?
As a former athlete, I have been searching for an exercise program that will fill that competitive void left after my athletic career. Going to the gym and working out never fulfilled this desire. I found myself trying to ‘work out’, and performing the same old lifts/exercises – quickly losing interest and momentum. CrossFit filled these needs and has kept me coming back day after day. The atmosphere at the Box and the friendly competition with other members – but mostly myself – has been awesome. I wouldn’t have gotten involved without the prodding of my friend Mike Fitzpatrick or the support as I’ve continued from my wife Jennifer, kids Annie and Michael, and also the coaches and members at CFB – especially my 6 am-ers and Coach Coleen!
4. What is your favorite movement?
That’s a tough one… They are all challenging, but I’d have to say my favorite is Overhead Squats
5. What is your least favorite movement?
Running!!! A very close 2nd would be Wall Balls or Ball Slams
6. Do you follow a particular diet to fuel your training? Favorite foods?
I am now on the Paleo diet (since fall of 2014). I do not follow it strictly, having the occasional adult beverage and some of my Starbuck’s lattes – though only as a treat now.
7. What are your short term goals?
Improving form and flexibility. Both have improved since I began, but I still need a lot of work!
8. What are your long term goals?
Improving my gymnastic movements
9. What is your biggest achievement at CFB?
Probably the Open this year – specifically 15.3. I was able to do all of the Open WOD’s Rx’d, but was especially proud to get my first muscle-up!
10. If there was a WOD named after you, what would it be?
Andy – 2 minutes rest! But seriously (kind of), if I had to choose I would have my WOD be an 8-10 min AMRAP; Overhead Squat (115 lb) x 10, Double Unders x 30, and Pull Ups x 15
