New Program: Bloomfield Barbell Club

Strength provides the foundation for increasing overall physical capacity. Strength is force production, and increasing it has positive impacts on all aspects of fitness and our quality of life. The CrossFit world is increasingly recognizing and embracing the importance of dedicated strength training, and producing better athletes as a consequence.

We are excited to announce that we are now offering an 8 week strength program, the Bloomfield Barbell Club. We want to get you strong, and we’re going to do so with a heavy barbell and basic human movement patterns; the squat, deadlift, bench press and shoulder press, plus a few accessory movements.

The Bloomfield Barbell Club will consist of the following:

  • Two 90 minute classes per week, plus optional third day ‘homework’.
  • Small group training with individualized programming and tracking of your progress.
  • Consistent and methodical training of the powerlifts, using a linear progression of weight.
  • The cycle will culminate in a CrossFit Total.
  • PRs!
  • Nutrition advice to support strength training.
  • Complimentary short and intense conditioning workouts.
  • Mobility exercises to improve movement quality and address individual faults.

When: Monday and Wednesday, 7.00-8.30pm. Optional 3rd day Friday/Saturday during box hours. The first class will be August 17. 8 weeks plus a CrossFit Total.

Cost: $300 for 8 weeks. You pay $150 at the start, and $150 at the halfway mark.

Who: The program is suitable for everyone, from those looking to develop a strong foundation to more advanced lifters who are looking for structure and results. Programming will be individualized to suit your needs. No Intro required for new members.

What to Expect: We will be lifting heavy weights, a lot. It’s going to be 90 minutes of badassery, fine-tuning your lifts and learning how to move better. Every one of your working sets will be coached and critiqued. You’re going to work hard, and it’s going to be awesome.

You will have the option of doing the Barbell Club exclusively or in tandem with CrossFit classes. Included in the package are conditioning workouts, designed not to interfere with your strength training, which you may do at home or on other days at the box.

To maximize your gains, we do not recommend you WOD more than 2 times per week, never on Tuesdays, and avoid additional strength training. If you currently have an unlimited membership and would like to do both, you can change to a 2 class per week package or punch card for the duration of the cycle.
