1. Age and Occupation?
37. Assembly line worker, but always looking to find a job that actually uses that college degree I paid for..
2. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I started in June of 2014, so about a year and quarter now.
3. Why do you CrossFit?
Originally, to help me with my obstacle course races. Now I do it to see what I’m capable of, to relieve stress, to keep trim, and maybe most of all to spend a few hours a week hanging out with some really cool people.
4. What is your favorite movement?
This changes all the time. Usually whatever one I just got much better with, so I’m going to say overhead squats right now. But as my kipping has made some pretty big moves in the last couple weeks, pull ups or knees to elbows/toes to bar will probably take that spot in the next week or two.
5. What is your least favorite movement?
Wall balls. Getting my knees to squat quickly can take a whole lot of convincing.
6. Do you follow a particular diet to fuel your training? Favorite foods?
No diet. I do record everything I eat on myfitnesspal (well over 1000 days consecutive, and counting!) to try and keep my total calories under control. I also use it to try and keep my protein at 20-25% of my total calorie intake, but I’m not as successful with that.
7. What are your short-term goals?
I’d like to hit all the requirements for the CFB in-house competition series. I’m pretty close to most of them already, so I’m hoping to get that extra bump I need in the next 2-3 months.
8. What are your long-term goals?
To increase my strength to a point where I can Rx most workouts, and maybe even get my posture under control. I’d also like to continue to improve my endurance and speed so that I can finish top 10 in one of my big obstacle races.
9. What is your biggest achievement at CFB?
Finally getting that pull up that I’ve been struggling to achieve since failing in 5th grade. Followed closely by my first rope climb for the same reason. Also, just managing to keep showing up 3-5 times a week for over a year, which is way beyond anything I’ve been able to do before
10. If there was a WOD named after you, what would it be?
Something run heavy, with a variety of movements with descending reps. Fewer reps as the workout goes on always makes me push harder toward the end. And having some hard rock/heavy metal playing would be mandatory.
