Every morning and evening on my drive to and from the gym, I listen to podcasts. It’s an enjoyable and entertaining way to learn and stay productive in this otherwise wasted time. Listening to the conversations of intelligent and insightful people sharpens me mentally and helps me with my own interactions. Here are my 4 favorite health and fitness related podcasts.

  1. Barbell Shrugged

Hosted by Doug Larson, CTP, Chris Moore and Mike Bledsloe, their style is upbeat, entertaining and sometimes a little crude. The Barbell Shrugged guys talk training and nutrition with CrossFit celebrities in both podcast and youTube form. Although they are no longer recording new episodes, go back through the archives for knowledge bombs on all things CrossFit.

  1. The Tim Ferriss Show

Tim Ferriss is an amazing interviewer who picks the minds of ‘world-class’ performers in eclectic areas to extract the tactics and tools that make them successful. Although not strictly CrossFit related, Tim does tackle a lot of health and fitness related topics, many personally as ‘the world’s best human guinea pig.’ This podcast is for anyone who wants to be more effective at life, period.

  1. Power Athlete Radio

This podcast, hosted by the Power Athlete HQ staff, is about all things strength and conditioning. Power Athlete was created by John Welbourn, who also founded CrossFit Football. It is a great resource for anyone who uses CrossFit training to develop their athletic ability to be efficient, strong, fast and powerful athletes. They have some amazing guests who are the cream of the crop in the strength and conditioning world with cutting edge ideas on programming and training.

  1. The Mind Muscle Project

Run by Lachy Rowston and Raph Freedman, a couple of guys who used to train at my gym back in Sydney, the MMP talks all things CrossFit, weightlifting, nutrition, health and lifestyle. They have a lot of Australian guests, with some big international names in the CrossFit world too. They have a super relaxed style and their interviews feel very personal, delving into the guest’s journeys to find out how they got to where they are.
